Today, the Octave day of Easter also known as Divine Mercy Sunday, we have a temperature spike in the Twin Cities, crossing the 50 degree barrier. Elijah, anxious to break in his new galoshes, took advantage of the weather with a leisurely stroll with his pop around the block. He discovered numerous puddles; spied an airplane or two; found a suitable hockey stick; and threw some snowballs. Sadly, Como Lake is still frozen, and the forecast for tomorrow and the FIRST DAY of APRIL is for snow.
This day is a great one for our family. We have received numerous miracles through the Divine Mercy devotion. We have a framed picture of the above image over our home's dining table.
At mass today, the priest taught us that God does not shower us with his mercy because we are lovable, but because our Triune God made an irrevocable choice to love us. God does not withhold his mercy from us, it is we who withdraw ourselves from his mercy. How fitting that the great eight day Feast of Easter, which is the celebration of the ultimate act of mercy, closes with Divine Mercy Sunday. Well put, Father!
Saint Faustina, pray for us that we may seek & attain God's boundless mercy, unworthy as we are.
